Ray Dameron
I am a graduate of James Monroe High School receiving an ”Advanced“ Diploma and earning sports
letters in football, basketball, and baseball. At the University of Richmond I received a degree in
economics while playing baseball for the Spiders.
Elizabeth and I were married in 1971. We are the proud parents of four children: Chris, Becky, Will, and
Amy and eight special grandchildren. For over forty years Elizabeth and I owned three retail stories in
Fredericksburg and one in Ashland, Virginia. Elizabeth continued to manage our stores while I chased
one of my life’s passion. For fifteen years I worked for a business planning firm holding series licenses
six, seven, sixty-three, and sixty-five. We are both retired now and enjoy our time at our river home with
all the family.
During our almost fifty years of marriage we taught Sunday school, ushered, and served on many boards
at our church. Additionally I have served Scouting both on the troop and district level. I have served as
President of the Battlefield Lions Club and served on the Rappahannock Area Community Services
Housing Board. We have enjoyed supporting our children by serving as band boosters and helping start
the Courtland High School Athletic Boosters.
My Elks Life started in 2003 when my Dad asked me to join the Fredericksburg Lodge. I have held the
position of Lecturing Knight, Loyal Knight (twice), Leading Knight (twice), and Exalted Ruler (twice) and
served on many committees. In 2014 I was asked by PGER Ted Hess to serve as District Deputy Grand
Exalted Ruler for the Central District for Lodge year 2014-2015. Then my Elks Life changed! Ron and
Nancy Hicks were nominated to be Grand Exalted Ruler and First Lady for Lodge year 2015-2016. They
invited Elizabeth and me to join them as his Administrative Aide and take a walk through Elkdom that
few get to experience. Finally I have served the Virginia Elks Association as Fourth, Third, Second, , and
First Vice President.
