I, Lynn Rutherford-Snow, was born and raised in Tazewell, Virginia and a 1972 graduate of Tazewell High School. 1974 Honor graduate of SVCC with Associates in Education, Science, and Business Administration and served as Student Government President and Editor of yearbook in 1974. 1997 Honor graduate of Mary Baldwin University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Member of Who’s Who Among Students in America Junior Colleges at SVCC and Alpha Delta Pi at MBU. I am a member of Crozet Baptist, former Deacon and Pre-School SS teacher for 39 years, current Chair of Communion and Baptism Committee, member of Ministry of Caring and Elder Care Committees.
I retired in 2015 from State Farm after 41 years of service. Became a member of our Great Order of Elkdom in 1997. Served in various positions and Exalted Ruler at 389 in 2007. ENF Chair for numerous years at 389 and Leading Knight and ENF Chair at 2270 in 2021. Local Hoop Shoot Director since 1997 and State Hoop Shoot Director for Virginia from 2008 – 2024. I am the first female to be appointed in 50 years as Regional Hoop Shoot Director in 2022 and currently serving as Region 10 Hoop Shoot Director for MD/DE/DC, NC, VA, and WV. Appointed Central DDGER by late PGER Ted Hess in 2015 and installed at the National Elks Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana by incoming GER Ron Hicks.
VEA Officer of Year 2014 and 2021, VEA Elk of Year 2015, and placed 3rd in East Coast National 11 O’Clock Toast competition in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 2023. Elected 4th VP under State President Ray Dameron in 2021-2022 and proceeded through VP Chairs. Installed VEA President June 2025 at our Spring Convention in Roanoke, Virginia.
I love being an Elk and all we stand for in our Order! My theme reflects “Show Your Love For Elkdom!” therefore the shape of a Heart for my Presidential Pin. My Challenge Coin reflects our Military, ENF, DAP, Youth/Hoop Shoot/Scholars and our States Major Project, our Youth Camp! They are $30.00 with the money going to our Youth Camp.
I strongly urge you to bring in members who believe in Elkdom and never lose sight of the Principles of our Order ~ Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love, and Fidelity! Let us reach out to all those who are less fortunate, always be kind to one another, and never be a bully!
Again, it is indeed an honor to serve as your President for 2025-2026! I will do my best to carry on the legacy of my Elk Brothers and Sisters showing “We are the B.P.O.E. ~ Best People On Earth!”
